Korean drama True Beauty – The drama True Beauty is currently being talked about among Korean drama lovers. The drama, which premiered in November 2020, is based on the popular Webtoon of the same title. True Beauty stars Moon Ga Young, Cha Eun Woo, Hwang In Yeop, and Park Yoo Na.
The drama tells the story of Lim Ju Kyung as a high school student who is considered to have an ugly face by her friends. This made Lim Ju Kyung bullied and shunned by her schoolmates. One day, he has to move into the old house because of his parents’ problems.
His parents’ decision made Lim Ju Kyung happy because he changed schools. He then decided to change his appearance by wearing make-up at his new school. His new appearance makes Lim Ju Kyung a friend. At school, she gets involved with two handsome boys named Lee Soo Ho and Han Seo Joon.
Although only a fictional story, True Beauty also has a conflict similar to real life. From these problems, it seems that many life lessons can be taken and applied in real life. For example, like the five things below:
1. Don’t Just Judge From Physical
Lim Ju Kyung is considered to have an ugly face by her schoolmates. This makes his friends stay away from Lim Ju Kyung and do the bullying. At his new school, he also gets the same treatment after finding out Lim Ju Kyung’s real face without makeup.
This incident can be a life lesson that seeing someone only from their physical appearance cannot be justified. The most important thing is manners and a kind heart. Beauty privilege is still inherent in everyday life.
2. Don’t Judge Others
Lee Soo Ho and Han Seo Joon used to be best friends. However, after one of his best friends commits suicide, Han Seo Joon accuses Soo Ho of being the cause. Even though the accusation was not true and Seo Joon did not know what happened at that time.
Soo Ho bears guilt and remorse for his accusations. It stresses him out and acts cold. Until finally Seo Joon finds out the truth and regrets making Soo Ho bear the guilt.
The story can be a lesson that judging people without knowing what happened is wrong. Before acting, we must know the problem.
3. Don’t look people in the eye
Han Seo Joon is seen as a naughty student, rarely listens to the teacher, and always sleeps in class. He is a good child, devoted to his mother, and cares about his sister.
Outside of school, Seo Joon works part-time to support his mother who is hospitalized. After his mother recovered, Seo Joon also still works part-time to help support his family’s economy.
In life, do not look at someone with one eye. We do not know his background and what problems he is facing.
4. Dare to Admit Wrong
Lee Joo Heon, the father of Lee Soo Ho, covered up his dating scandal by making a scandal with another artist, namely Jung Seo Yeon. He did not admit his guilt as the cause of Jung Seo Yeon’s suicide for a case that was not committed. In the end, Joo Hoon is willing to admit his mistakes and stop being an actor.
Lee Joo Hoon’s actions of blaming others are certainly not justified. Even if we make mistakes, we must take responsibility and be willing to admit mistakes. That way, we will not be haunted by guilt for the rest of our lives.
5. How to Educate Children
Lim Ju Kyung and Han Seo Joon received their mother’s upbringing differently. Lim Ju Kyung’s mother always yells when Lim Ju Kyung does something wrong. Meanwhile, Han Seo Joon was treated gently by his mother. Even though Han Seo Joon made a mistake, his mother only gently told him.
The differences in upbringing shape the attitude of children outside the home. Han Seo Joon is a brave and confident child. Meanwhile, Lim Ju Kyung becomes timid and insecure. This method can be an example of educating children at home.
